Thinking of Leading a New Support Group? We Want to Help!

- Posted by Michelle Brown

The power of a supportive group to ameliorate the stresses of life is well known, but in today’s busy world it can be difficult for women to find a group that is right for them. More and more of us are separated from family or feeling isolated from our neighbors and community. We are particularly vulnerable to isolation when facing a life challenge such as illness, divorce, loss, or single parenthood. To create more access to supportive groups for women, The Women’s Initiative is making meeting space available to self-facilitated groups. This fall The Women’s Initiative will offer a two-hour training called The Nuts and Bolts of Support Group Facilitation. We encourage any woman who sees the need for a support group to apply for a space in this training and eventual use of our space. We are looking for leaders with interest in creating groups for women facing a wide variety of challenges and life changes. Please contact us for more information.
