VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteers serve as board members, administrative supporters, clinical counselors,
program facilitators for our resilience offerings, helpers for special events and more. We invite volunteers to serve in-person or remotely.

We thank our volunteers for their unyielding passion and support!

OPEN VOLUNTEER AND INTERNSHIP ROLES:

  • Summer 2024 Outreach Intern: work closely with our team to raise awareness about our services and promote health and well-being in our community. This is an unpaid position of 5-8 hours per week, ideal for an enthusiastic person who is passionate about community engagement and mental health. Bilingual English and Spanish language ability is a plus. Read the full position description.

  • Outreach Volunteers: Help spread the word about TWI’s counseling and resilience programs through tabling at local health fairs, community events, concerts, and neighborhood celebrations! Outreach volunteers are paired with experienced TWI staff or volunteers and share basic information about our services with the community. Volunteers assist with set-up and take down of the table and materials and cover a 2-3 hour shift at occasional weekend events, spring through fall. We’re looking for warm and friendly people who believe that everyone has the capacity to heal from trauma and transform challenging life experiences into positive change.

Please let us know if you could represent our affinity-based healing programs at outreach events: our Bienestar program is led by and serves Latina women and the Latine community and our Sister Circle program is led by and serves Black women and POC.

CLINICAL VOLUNTEERS:

  • PRO-BONO THERAPIST: We seek trauma-informed, culturally responsive, licensed clinicians to provide individual counseling and/or facilitate clinical groups.

Volunteer therapists may provide counseling via telehealth or in person (at TWI offices or in their private practice).

TWI asks for a one-year commitment and 2-3 clients/week from volunteer therapists, and will provide occasional, no cost trainings and group supervision.

What I found really remarkable about TWI was that not long after [a challenging call], I was contacted [by a staff member] about whether or not I needed to speak to someone about what had happened, and that really showed me that everyone involved with TWI really cares – that it doesn’t just stop with the clients.
— TWI Administrative Volunteer
From my very first volunteer meeting at The Women’s Initiative three years ago, I felt so valued and appreciated. I became involved because I wanted to give back in some way, yet consistently I feel I am the one who has been given the gift. Through my involvement with TWI I’ve met so many inspiring women. It is a privilege to be involved with such an enlightened, heart-centered organization that does so much to benefit the community.
