Craniosacral Gentle Touch

The gentle touch of craniosacral therapy supports the body in re-patterning the nervous system beyond unresolved stress and trauma and re-discovering the body’s natural state of wellness. This therapy uses light touch on the body while clients recline on a massage table, fully clothed. Participants often experience a greater sense of self-connection, clarity, renewal, and peace following a craniosacral session. Explore and celebrate the diverse tapestry of queer history with Queer History Club, a biweekly program dedicated to delving into significant moments and figures from queer history around the world. Each session will feature a discussion of a different type of media, including podcasts, book chapters, and documentaries, to cater to different learning styles and deepen our collective understanding. Our discussions will span every continent and various time periods, providing a rich, global perspective on queer history. This group welcomes individuals of all backgrounds and levels of knowledge to join in the conversation, reflect on the past, and connect with the broader queer community. Members of the LGBTQ+ community 18 years old and up are invited to attend. Led by Hyacinth Bellerose.

Expressive Art: Slow Stitching
Thursdays, March 6–27
Explore the mindfulness and relaxing benefits of hand sewing in community. We invite you to explore textiles as a means of meditation, relaxation and emotional expression. Each week, our group will gather to engage in process-focused textile work such as embroidery, crochet and knitting. No prior artistic experience is necessary; we will explore new techniques together, support one another, and have fun. All materials will be provided. Participants are also welcome to bring their own projects to work on. Women and members of the gender-expansive community 18 and older are invited to attend. Every 4th Thursday, ongoing
This group is a safe space for transgender women and transfeminine adult individuals (18 years and older) in Charlottesville, Albemarle, and surrounding areas in Virginia to connect, share, learn from one another, and provide mutual encouragement along our unique, personal journeys. Respecting and maintaining the privacy of individuals and the confidentiality of what is shared in our circle is of utmost importance. Led by Kayla Capps, Ashley Glennon, and members of the TWI Q Staff Alliance.

Writing for Healing: Telling Your Story
Bi-weekly on Mondays, April 7–June 2
Join us every other Monday for a five-class series to explore writing to cultivate personal growth and healing. We will read poems, essays, and book excerpts that show the transformative power of personal narrative and explore how the writing process can serve as a healing tool for adversity and painful experiences. Participants will receive support to work on their healing narratives. Women with any level of writing experience (or none at all!) are welcome to join. Light refreshments will be provided. Queer Theory Book Club
Monthly on 2nd Thursdays, April 10–June 12
Join us for an engaging exploration of foundational queer theory texts in this three-month book club. Each month, we'll gather to discuss a different influential work that has shaped queer studies and thought. Our reading list begins with Leslie Feinberg’s “Trans Liberation,” followed by Judith Butler's "Gender Trouble," and Robert McRuer's "Crip Theory.” This book club creates space for thoughtful conversation around these groundbreaking texts and their impact on understanding gender, sexuality, and identity. Thanks to support from The Beautiful Idea, a limited number of books will be available to participants who register in advance. Open to all members of the LGBTQ+ community 18 years old and up interested in queer theory, regardless of prior knowledge. Registration is recommended, especially for those who need assistance obtaining the books. Led by Hyacinth Bellerose.

Trauma Healing Basics 2
Mondays, May 5–June 9
Virtual via Zoom
Join us for part 2 of a 2-part series on trauma healing. While trauma healing basics 1 focuses on establishing safety in the body, mind, relationships and environment, trauma healing basics 2 takes a deeper dive into the impact of trauma itself. Learn about the phases of trauma recovery, and the importance of a holistic approach. Participants can expect to engage in nervous system mapping and hone skills to resource their nervous systems through body-based/experiential practices. This is a closed group where participants can share personal experiences and receive support in a non-judgmental, and confidential setting. Participation in THB 1 is recommended but not required. This group is open to women and members of the gender expansive community who reside in the City of Charlottesville and/or the counties of Albemarle, Nelson, Greene, Lousia or Fluvanna. Participants often experience a greater sense of self-connection, clarity, renewal, and peace following a craniosacral session. Writing for Healing: Telling Your Story

Join us every other Monday for a five-class series to explore writing to cultivate personal growth and healing. We will read poems, essays, and book excerpts that show the transformative power of personal narrative and explore how the writing process can serve as a healing tool for adversity and painful experiences. Learning From the LGBTQ+ Community Training
This training program helps aspiring allies gain insight into the beautiful diversity of LGBTQ+ identities. Participants will explore the basics of LGBTQ+ identity, vocabulary, history, and the ongoing Movement for LGBTQ+ Liberation. Through personal stories, they will deepen their understanding of the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ people in our region. If you aspire to be an ally to the LGBTQ+ community and want to learn more about what the movement has to offer, this training is the perfect for you! Lunch will be provided. Queer Theory Book Club
Monthly on 2nd Thursdays, April 10–June 12
Join us for an engaging exploration of foundational queer theory texts in this three-month book club. Each month, we'll gather to discuss a different influential work that has shaped queer studies and thought. Our reading list begins with Leslie Feinberg’s “Trans Liberation,” followed by Judith Butler's "Gender Trouble," and Robert McRuer's "Crip Theory.” This book club creates space for thoughtful conversation around these groundbreaking texts and their impact on understanding gender, sexuality, and identity. Thanks to support from The Beautiful Idea, a limited number of books will be available to participants who register in advance. Open to all members of the LGBTQ+ community 18 years old and up interested in queer theory, regardless of prior knowledge. Wednesdays, 30-minute sessions from 1-4:30pm, ongoing
The gentle touch of craniosacral therapy supports the body in re-patterning the nervous system beyond unresolved stress and trauma and re-discovering the body’s natural state of wellness. This therapy uses light touch on the body while clients recline on a massage table, fully clothed. Participants often experience a greater sense of self-connection, clarity, renewal, and peace following a craniosacral session. Women and members of the gender-expansive community are invited to participate. Led by Amina Stevens of Common Ground Healing Arts.

Explore the mindfulness and relaxing benefits of hand sewing in community. We invite you to explore textiles as a means of meditation, relaxation and emotional expression. Each week, our group will gather to engage in process-focused textile work such as embroidery, crochet and knitting. No prior artistic experience is necessary; we will explore new techniques together, support one another, and have fun. All materials will be provided. Participants are also welcome to bring their own projects to work on. Women and members of the gender-expansive community 18 and older are invited to attend. In this six-week counseling group, participants can expect to engage one another on topics of safety in body, mind, relationships and environment. Trauma Healing Basics 1 offers foundational skills related to coping with upsetting circumstances and overwhelming emotions. Participants will develop a larger emotional vocabulary and learn how to express beliefs and needs more effectively. This is a closed group where participants can share personal experiences and receive support in a non-judgmental, and confidential setting. Women and members of the gender-expansive community who reside in Charlottesville, and the counties of Albemarle, Greene, Fluvanna, Nelson, and Louisa are invited to join. We invite you to explore rest as resistance in this two-part restorative retreat series. In January, we will kick off the new year by setting intentions and visualizing our desires through a vision board party. Materials will be provided. In February, embrace your power through affirmations and self-love rituals. Learn how to create powerful affirmations that support your self-esteem and challenge negative self-talk.
