Join us for an engaging exploration of foundational queer theory texts in this three-month book club. Each month, we'll gather to discuss a different influential work that has shaped queer studies and thought. Our reading list begins with Leslie Feinberg’s “Trans Liberation,” followed by Judith Butler's "Gender Trouble," and Robert McRuer's "Crip Theory.” This book club creates space for thoughtful conversation around these groundbreaking texts and their impact on understanding gender, sexuality, and identity. Thanks to support from The Beautiful Idea, a limited number of books will be available to participants who register in advance. Open to all members of the LGBTQ+ community 18 years old and up interested in queer theory, regardless of prior knowledge. Learning From the LGBTQ+ Community Training
This training program helps aspiring allies gain insight into the beautiful diversity of LGBTQ+ identities. Participants will explore the basics of LGBTQ+ identity, vocabulary, history, and the ongoing Movement for LGBTQ+ Liberation. Through personal stories, they will deepen their understanding of the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ people in our region. If you aspire to be an ally to the LGBTQ+ community and want to learn more about what the movement has to offer, this training is the perfect for you! Lunch will be provided. Explore and celebrate the diverse tapestry of queer history with Queer History Club, a biweekly program dedicated to delving into significant moments and figures from queer history around the world. Each session will feature a discussion of a different type of media, including podcasts, book chapters, and documentaries, to cater to different learning styles and deepen our collective understanding. Our discussions will span every continent and various time periods, providing a rich, global perspective on queer history. This group welcomes individuals of all backgrounds and levels of knowledge to join in the conversation, reflect on the past, and connect with the broader queer community. Join us in creating a vibrant collective space where BIPOC LGBTQ individuals can connect, create, and thrive together. Each week will bring an opportunity to socialize, and learn and connect with community through various activities, such as a BIPOC LGBTQ+ filmmaker showcase, artmaking, and more. Individuals who identify as both BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) and LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer) are invited to participate.. Led by Latricia Giles.

Strength in Community: Election Processing for LGBTQ+ Individuals
Virtual via Zoom
The Women's Initiative invites you to an evening of support and processing surrounding the upcoming election. Gather in this safe, brave, and supportive virtual space to share and connect with others over any difficult emotions related to the current election. Writing for Liberation: Spellcasting
Wednesdays, October 2, 16, and 30
Virtually via Zoom.
Members of the LGBTQ+ community 18 years and older are invited to explore the power of language, intention, and collective energy through the practice of writing and the tradition of spellcasting. We will explore the history and traditions of spellcasting across cultures and engage in writing exercises to support healing and to embrace our personal power. Together we'll create a sacred space for writing, reclamation, healing, and empowerment. Led by Latricia Giles.
